Le Jour Vingt-Quatre
(Day 24)
Yucky, yucky travel
day today. It rained ALL day today. I enjoyed my big breakfast and last giant
bowl of chocolate granola and coconut, and out the door like packer pros we
went! We’re headed for Fussen, but we made a pit stop at Kufstein, Germany, to
visit the Riedel Glass factory. It’s known for their fine wine glasses! The
purpose of Fussen is a mere overnight stay and spending the day at
Neuschwanstein Castle! This is the beautiful, yet unfinished, castle that Walt
Disney used as the inspiration for the Disney castle; I cannot wait to see it and
pretend like I’m a princess for the day…
Riedel was
interesting to learn about, and we got to see the behind the scenes work as we
watched tons of men hard at work in the 100 degree factory making each part to
glass pieces to perfection. They then walked us through this automated sensory,
illusion tour thing. It was emphasizing what makes Riedel special for knowing
and making their glasses to cater to each of the five senses to make the entire
wine-drinking experience “magical” or “the best.”
This is our second favorite
room!! It’s so cute with it’s turquoise, reds, and yellow, and our bathroom has
steps leading up to it, and it’s white and futuristic-looking. We approve!
Kelly, Brady, Drew,
Garrett, and I went to this random German restaurant mostly because we were
hungry and it was raining and we just wanted to find somewhere to eat. I’m
going to be honest, I was purposefully trying to avoid ordering most of the
strange sounding and looking German meats for the past few days while we were
at restaurants. Tonight, I sort of had no other choice because that’s literally
all that was offered on the menu/I wanted to at least try Weinershinzel once
before leaving…. So, checking it off my bucket list, I ordered it, and actually
liked it! It just tasted like chicken fried steak.
Afterward, we
basically bought out the entire grocery store and stocked up on German/Swiss
chocolate because it was really cheap here! Yummy espresso, rum, and coconut
flavored too. Then, we came back to the hotel, joining company with Allison,
Syd. And two other sweet girls and played Fish Bowl. It was hilarious, and we
had a good time laughing hysterically at each other. After we played a round,
Kelly and I called it a night and came back to our cozy room; however, I made
the mistake of leaving my phone with all of them. Of course, Drew, Brady, and
Garrett got a hold of it, and I had nice little surprises in my photo album,
including pictures of random hotel things, their hairy feet, mirror pics of
themselves, videos of them tackling each other, and other boy-ish things. At
least they unashamedly love us enough to do that, right?
